Foundation Grant Application Available Online
NAILBA member agencies will be receiving the 2010 Foundation Grant Application in the mail in the coming week, and it has also been posted to the NAILBA Web site.

For nearly a decade, the NAILBA Charitable Foundation has generously supported charitable causes in the very communities in which NAILBA members operate, thanks to the involvement of NAILBA members and the brokerage community.  Our industry’s commitment to Celebrating Life by Giving Back is evident.

There are two ways to support the ongoing work of the NAILBA Charitable Foundation:

  • Use the online form to become a Foundation donor (donations are tax deductible); or
  • Work with a charity you endorse in your community to submit a Grant Application (Please ensure that the Eligibility Criteria are met, and that the endorsement comes from a NAILBA member agency)

Full details regarding the Grant Application process are outlined in the Grant Application Brochure. Applications and attachments must be returned to NAILBA offices by August 6, 2010 to be considered for this year’s grants awards.

For more information about the work of the NAILBA Charitable Foundation, please contact Naomi Romanchok at 703-383-3072 or nromanchok@nailba.org.

Update on S.3217
Please Oppose Menendez-Akaka Amendment to S.3217 Creating a Uniform Standard of Care
The U.S. Senate has been debating S.3217 (The Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010), a sweeping regulatory overhaul of the financial services industry.

As part of these reforms, Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Daniel Akaka (D-HI) are preparing to introduce an amendment this week that would impose a uniform fiduciary standard of care on all broker-dealers.

Senators Menendez and Akaka have been actively seeking support from their colleagues for their amendment.

GO TO THIS LINK if you have not already responded NAILBA’s action alert on this matter. Take this opportunity now to stand up for your livelihood by asking your Senators to oppose this amendment.
